Car Security

7) No matter how short a time you'll be away from the car, NEVER leave your car running with the keys in it. It's thought that thousands of cars a year are stolen when people leave them running in their drives to warm up on cold winter mornings.

8) If you don't already have one, get an alarm immobiliser fitted. We've heard lots of people say that they ignore alarms these days, but if you hear your alarm going off in your driveway, are you going to ignore it? Lots of insurance companies will also offer a discount for a thatcham approved alarm, but make sure it's installed by a certified installer.

9) With car security systems becoming more and more elaborate, thieves are turning to stealing the keys to cars. With this in mind we'd recommend that you hide your keys if you're going our or lock them in a key cabinet that you can get from most DIY stores.

10) Never leave your keys on the table in a restaurant pub. Theft of keys is becoming a big problem, especially in public places, keep them in your pocket.

We know that even by following every single one of these tips, you can still become a victim of theft, but do you really want to make it easy for them?
