Industries have faced massive challenges over the past year, with many companies struggling to survive with a lack of business. The same cannot be said for the courier business however. Online shopping is hitting record highs and with that, delivery services are being employed to deliver these packages.  These are not just for Amazon deliveries or other online retailers, but also for restaurant and supermarket deliveries.  Therefore, Courier insurance is more important than ever.

What is courier van insurance?

Courier van insurance is designed for people who are delivering numerous parcels on behalf of different companies. Due to the number of hours spent of the road the level of cover needed for couriers is different to other drivers. Courier drivers face time restraints and high mileage whilst they’re working, so it’s important to make sure you’re covered correctly.  You may also have heard of ‘hire and reward’ insurance, which provides the same service.

Why do I need courier insurance instead of traditional van insurance?

Unfortunately, couriers are not covered under a normal van policy.  This is due to the number of hours spent behind the wheel. But don’t panic. Quote Detective specialise in courier insurance and can provide you with cover which protects you all day long! Give us a ring on 0333 222 4005 and speak to an expert from our team for a free quote.

Why should I choose Quote Detective?

Unlike other insurers, we can cover couriers regardless of whether you have a specific courier No Claims Discount. If that isn’t enough to whet your appetite, we also allow an annual mileage in the region of 40,000 miles. As a courier, it is likely that you will be racking up the miles so it is important that you give yourself sufficient distance on your policy to have you covered. What does this policy cover?

Courier insurance protects both you and your van, as well as any goods you are carrying. Note this does not include any high value or hazardous materials. This also depends on the level of cover you choose.

How old do I have to be to take out this policy?

You have to be over 21 years old with a Full UK drivers’ licence to be eligible for courier insurance.

What level of cover do you provide?

You can choose between the normal levels of cover offered for standard car insurance. These are: Comprehensive, Third Party Fire and Theft and Third Party. These covers offer differing levels of protection for you and your car so choose wisely!

Comprehensive covers any repair or replacement you may need due to accidental or malicious damage. It is also the highest level of cover we offer.

Third Party Fire and Theft means your van will be protected in the event of fire damage or theft.  Though it’s worth bearing in mind that you are not covered for anything else. In the case of an accident, the insurer will pay for damages to the other car and driver.

Third Party cover is the lowest level of cover that is legally required in the UK. Your insurer will pay out for damage caused to someone else’s property or person but you will not be covered should anything happen to your van.

What type of information will I need with me to get a quote?

As with any insurance, we will need details about your vehicle, details about you and details of  your claim history.  This may include recent driving or criminal convictions and accident history.
