What is Convicted Driver Insurance?
Convicted driving insurance is essentially the same as a standard car insurance policy. A major difference is that insurance providers recognise that the driver has unspent driving or non-driving convictions. These convictions are taken into account when insurers calculate premiums.
Similar to any other motor insurance policy, there are three differing levels of cover available to the policyholder. It’s worth noting that third party only (TPO) won’t always be the cheapest type of cover. You need to assess your circumstances properly and protect your vehicle accordingly.
Different types of offences will have a different impact on your quotes. Your insurance quotes will still be higher than drivers without convictions but how high those quotes are will depend on the offence.
For example, the highest category driving offence include drink driving and death by dangerous driving. Finding insurance will be extremely difficult because most insurance providers would want to stay away from that kind of liability.

Finding the right car insurance

What insurance cover do I need?
It is a legal requirement to have at least third party only (TPO) insurance cover on your car if you drive in the UK. We offer three levels of cover for car insurance.
In a nutshell:
This type of policy covers the same as TPO, plus the addition of fire damage and theft to your car.
Fully comprehensive provides cover to both your car and the other driver’s car if you’re involved in an accident. Plus it covers medical and legal expenses and liability insurance.
Choosing which cover you want to go for is totally up to you. But bear in mind that, selecting TPO over comprehensive won’t mean your insurance quote will be cheap. It’s important to see how much you’ll be quoted on each policy, so you can properly assess which option is best for you.
How to compare your car insurance
